EarthSun is a developing natural religion that begins with the observable world: humans are animals shaped by evolution, the Sun supplies the energy that sustains life, and Earth is our material home. It uses the Sun and Earth as explicit symbols while treating honesty, compassion and responsibility as chosen ethical commitments.

EarthSun uses the word religion for a shared framework of meaning, symbols, ethics and communal practice. It does not use the word to claim revelation, miracles, legal status or certainty about the supernatural. Whether institutions or individuals classify it as a religion may depend on context and remains separate from its own description.

EarthSun has no settled claim that a supernatural god exists or does not exist. Its public foundation does not require belief in a deity. It asks participants to distinguish personal possibilities from evidence-based statements and to avoid presenting hope, intuition or inherited doctrine as established fact.

No. EarthSun recognises the Sun as the star whose energy makes life on Earth possible and uses it as a symbol of life-giving energy. Gratitude, attention or ceremony directed toward sunlight is symbolic practice, not a claim that the Sun hears prayers, makes moral judgments or possesses supernatural agency.

No. “The Sun is our Father” is symbolic language for life’s dependence on solar energy. It is not a claim about biology, consciousness or supernatural parenthood. Literal ancestry belongs to evolutionary history; the symbol belongs to poetry, gratitude and shared meaning.

No. “Earth is our Mother” symbolises our material dependence on this planet: its matter, water, atmosphere, ecosystems and evolutionary history make our lives possible. The phrase does not claim that Earth is a supernatural woman, a conscious being or a biological parent.

EarthSun is non-theistic in its public foundation: participation does not require belief in a god, and doctrine does not rely on divine command. That is not the same as requiring atheism. Atheists, agnostics and compatible theists may engage while keeping unsupported personal beliefs distinct from EarthSun’s shared claims.

EarthSun accepts established scientific accounts of nature, including evolution, deep time, physics and chemistry. Science informs its factual claims; it does not scientifically prove EarthSun’s symbols or values. Ethical commitments such as reducing suffering are chosen and argued for, not disguised as laboratory findings.

Yes. Humans are members of the species Homo sapiens, primates within the animal kingdom, and part of an evolutionary family tree shared with other life. Human language and cumulative culture are remarkable, but they do not place us outside nature.
